| During the Ming period a new form of Chinese literature developed. This evolved to become the modern Chinese novel. The stories were vivid, and often told the stories of the poor and downtrodden of the society. In most cases the novel had moral story with the good being rewarded and the bad being punished. Two of the most famous novels of the period were the Golden Lotus and The Dream of the Red Chamber. |
